April in Paris (1952): Miss Ethel 'Dynamite' Jackson is a chorus girl who mistakenly receives an invitation from the State Department to represent the American theatre at an arts exposition in Paris, France. There's only one problem: the invitation was meant for Miss Ethel Barrymore. Meanwhile, S. Winthrop Putnam, the bureaucrat who made the mistake, tries unsuccessfully to correct his mix-up. It's too late, for Dynamite Jackson is off to Paris, where the two meet and marry, or so they think.

Ethel S. 'Dynamite' Jackson: How'd you get in here? S. Winthrop Putnam: I have a friend in the FBI. Ethel S. 'Dynamite' Jackson: How about the Red Cross? [throws a vase at him]

Ethel S. 'Dynamite' Jackson: It's no use, Philippe. I'm in love with the man I married. And he's not even my husband! Philippe Fouquet: Even in Paris, that's an unusual situation.

Ethel S. 'Dynamite' Jackson: I'm sorry if I'm lowering the tone of this pall-bearers convention!

S. Winthrop Putnam: Do you know what my title is? Assistant Secretary to the Assistant to the Undersecretary of State. It's taken me ten years to get this far. If this falls through I'll be right back where I started: Assistant Assistant Secretary to the Assistant to the Undersecretary of State.

Ethel S. 'Dynamite' Jackson: I'm sick and tired of taking orders and I'm not going to finish my dinner. I'm not going to go to my room, either. In fact, I don't know what I'm going to do. But take my advice, gentlemen: Hang on to your life preservers!

Ethel S. 'Dynamite' Jackson: I don't care what I did last night and the night before that and the night before that, too. I'm gonna ring the bell tonight. I'm gonna ring the bell tonight. That's what I'm gonna do!

Ethel S. 'Dynamite' Jackson: Say something! S. Winthrop Putnam: What a built!

Ethel S. 'Dynamite' Jackson: Don't stop me now. I'm ticking!

Ethel S. 'Dynamite' Jackson: Just twist my arm and I'll agree Paris is getting to me

[repeated line] Philippe Fouquet: Poof!

Ethel S. 'Dynamite' Jackson: Oh! Don't worry about that. I'll cancel Montreal for Paris anytime. Nothing but eskimos up there anyway.

Marcia Sherman: All right, father. You're a pretty shrewd operator. Secretary Robert Sherman: I take after my daughter.

Marcia Sherman: There's going to be a vacancy on the Labor Relations Board. Secretary Robert Sherman: One of the labor members is going back to work.

Secretary Robert Sherman: Never doubt the power of a woman .. who wants to be first lady.

S. Winthrop Putnam: [to Marcia Sherman] You never loved me. You only wanted to marry me to try to get to the White House where you could remodel that too.
